About the BETA for version 1.1 (VFS)!

DeepReader 1.03 now supports full extended ASCII characters, allowing the reading of Spanish, French, German, Danish, and other foreign language eBooks!

DeepReader is the shareware eBook reader designed to make the reading experience on a Palm handheld more like reading your favorite book.

DeepReader is available for any PalmOS handheld (including devices from Palm, Handspring, Sony, HandEra, and others). DeepReader will run on all 2MB (or more) devices running OS 3.5 or higher. DeepReader fully supports the Palm DOC (.pdb) format, including bookmarks.

Using "Smart" formatting and a choice of several easy-to-read anti-aliased fonts, DeepReader mimicks book typesetting techniques, including clear paragraph breaks and indenting, smart quotes, true dashes, italic emphasis, full justification options, and more.

Anti-aliased text and sub-pixel kerning improves document readability on all Palm devices. Furthermore, the anti-aliased font technology utilizes "color-fringing" techniques to increase the effective resolution of the fonts on color Palm devices, including the Palm m505, IIIc, and Handspring Visor Prism, further enhancing the readability of the text.

DeepReader 1.0 is offered as a trial download with no features disabled! Only a periodic "nag" document will occasionally remind you to register your software. If you are as pleased with the product as we believe you will be, a simple registration fee of only $12 will silence the "Reminder" messages forever.

Three different easy-to-read Anti-Aliased Fonts built-in! -- Ray Larabie's Berylium, a serifed "book"-type font reminiscent of classics like Times-Roman and Garamond; Rubicon Computer Labs' Frobisher, a popular and extremely readable sans-serifed font choice; and Pakenham, also from Ray Larabie's deluxe collection, an alternate narrow sans-serifed font.

Font Magnification is available at the press of the magnifying glass, providing a comfortable "teleprompter-sized" option as well as the standard font size. On the new hi-res Sony Clie and HandEra devices, a third font size is also available.

You can view your eBook with either Left or Full Text Justification. Fonts are kerned cleanly at sub-pixel increments, making a ragged right edge an option, but not a necessity.

Automatic "Smart" Formatting makes standard DOC formatting look much more like printed typesetting. This includes paragraph indentation, smart carriage return/linefeed-handling, elimination of extra and mid-line carriage-returns, and various character replacements, including: changing standard quotes to "smart quotes," double dashes (--) to true dashes, and underscore emphasis (like "_this_") into true italics. Common DOC formatting snafus are handled with elegance, so that your reading experience is book-like and natural.

Numerous scrolling options are available, including Automatic Smooth-Scrolling and Smooth-Scrolling on any advance, be it screen tap, up-down arrows, or Jog-Dial. Or scrolling can be disabled for fast paging through documents. Continuous Smooth-Scrolling is activated either by tapping the lower-right-most icon (and paused using the Pause button just to its left) or by toggling the Percent Bar to the left of the icons, easily done with a finger when the stylus isn't handy.

There is full Jog-dial Support for both Clie and HandEra devices (roll line-by-line, push for full page advance), and the new HandEra 330 offers extra screen real-estate for your document with the silk-screen area minimized.

Bookmarks can be created, renamed, or deleted, and you can instantly Go To any area previously marked. A preference option allows you to remember the last position in any document, or only in the last one opened.

A robust Find feature allows both case-sensitive and caseless searches forward through your document, automatically highlighting your found word (or words) in italics and allowing for a quick Find of any subsequent instances.
